Spotlight can be used for many more things, and, as you’ve probably guessed, I’ll devote a column to it in the not-too-distant future. If it’s an application, that application will launch. If you’ve chosen a file, it will open in the application associated with it.

Moving to the right in the menu bar you see a series of icons that also represent menus. If you need help in just about any application, that’s exactly what the Help menu is for. If you need to copy something, for example, that command will always be found in the Edit menu.

Thanks to things like common menu names and commands, you’ll have a certain sense of familiarity regardless of which application you’re using. And that’s one of the beauties of the Mac OS. All of these menu titles (except Go) are commonly found in other applications. If you are currently using iTunes, for example, you’ll see an iTunes menu in this same position-just to the right of the Apple menu-and in that menu you’ll find commands that apply to the iTunes application.Īnd then there are the regular menus-File, Edit, View, Go, Window, and Help. This menu is known generically as the application menu, meaning that it contains commands specific to the application you’re currently working with. So, for instance, click on a file, choose the Duplicate command from the File menu, and the Mac creates another copy of the file. Select one of those commands, and it executes. They do NOT go to the system trash - they are permanently deleted, and that is by design. (And they have physically moved on disk from the Capture folder to the session Trash folder.) If I then go to the session trash folder, I can right click and choose 'Empty session trash', I get a warning with a confirmation button saying 'Delete from disk', then when I click that, the images in the session trash disappear, and the images have physically gone on disk (as I can confirm by looking in Finder). So if I delete images from my Capture folder for instance (Cmd+ backspace key) they appear in the session trash. Session trash works as advertised for me.

A bit shameful for a top-tier software like C1 I think.

Nothing with session trash works neither from the keyboard nor from the menus. Has this been reported to support? It really is annoying and a not that small bug IMHO, so I think PhaseOne should be on to it for the next release.
